CasaOS & Container Management
My home-lab notes
Based on my October 4, 2026 project records. These notes distinguish reported results from captured output and later explanatory examples; they are not new checks of the servers.
Goal
I wanted to explore a browser-based interface for managing self-hosted applications on my existing Ubuntu server.
What I did
I installed CasaOS on the Ubuntu host and opened its dashboard for application management. CasaOS was an interface on the existing server, not a replacement operating system.
I added Firefox as a container through the application interface rather than installing a desktop browser package on the host.
I kept the reported addition separate from proof of a working browser session. The detailed record identifies container state, port information, and a launch screenshot as evidence still to collect.
Result
The earlier sessions report that I installed CasaOS and added a Firefox container; a successful browser launch or restart test is not documented.
Evidence & limits
The setup discussions report CasaOS installation and Firefox addition. The image tag, container name, port, and launch output were not retained.
The Docker and service-inspection commands in the source are optional follow-up checks, not recovered execution history. No uptime or restart claim is made.
What I learned
I practiced distinguishing the Ubuntu host, its management dashboard, and a containerized application.
I learned that an application entry is weaker evidence than matching container state and a working application interface.
