AI Agent Deployment on Linux
My home-lab notes
Based on my October 4, 2026 project records. These notes distinguish reported results from captured output and later explanatory examples; they are not new checks of the servers.
Goal
I wanted to configure Hermes on Ubuntu for Linux tutoring and infrastructure assistance, and connect it to my remote administration workflow.
What I did
I completed the Hermes setup and configured its role and model/provider settings. Earlier completion reports describe its Python environment, configuration, and gateway setup; credentials are excluded here.
Earlier sessions reported healthy doctor checks for dependencies and configuration. The saved October 3 transcript directly captures hermes --help starting and listing CLI commands.
I also launched Hermes remotely after resolving the executable-path problem described in the SSH lab. I credit agent-executed downstream work separately, including the AdGuard deployment.
Result
I configured Hermes on Ubuntu; its help transcript directly demonstrates CLI startup, while earlier sessions report healthy doctor checks.
Evidence & limits
The October 3 saved transcript directly records hermes --help. Installation and healthy doctor results are reported history, not a full diagnostic transcript reproduced here.
The source's status, version, path, and service-discovery commands are suggested evidence, not all claimed executed. The original installer was not captured, and the historical gateway report is not a current service check.
What I learned
I practiced connecting software installation, configuration, diagnostics, and remote command execution.
I learned to distinguish evidence that a CLI starts from diagnostic reports and proof that an application task succeeds.
